Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution method that allows parties to settle without going to court. The mediation process is voluntary and non-binding. A professionally trained, neutral and impartial person (mediator) helps the parties independently resolve any disagreements arising between them, with the consent and confidentiality of the parties. The mediator also helps the parties identify problems and develop strategies to resolve them.
In contrast to court and arbitration procedures, in mediation, the parties themselves decide on the final outcome – an agreement acceptable to all.
